Encountering Reggio Emilia: In Dialogue Around Sustainability
The fourth REACH (Reggio Emilia in Asia for Children) conference, held in Singapore from March 11-12, 2016, at Novotel Singapore Clarke Quay, brought together a vibrant assembly of voices. The event welcomed participants from all over the world, all converging under the theme “Encountering Reggio Emilia: In Dialogue Around Sustainability.”
Our Guest of Honour, Mr. Eugene Leong, CEO of Singapore’s Early Childhood Development Agency, underscored the importance of sustainability, highlighting our commitment to valuing and respecting children’s voices in this crucial area. The conference was further enriched by the insights of our esteemed speakers, Simona Bonilauri, Pedagogista at Reggio Children, and Stefano Sturloni, Atelierista at Reggio Children. Their profound wisdom, conveyed with exceptional clarity by interpreter Jane McCall, transcended language barriers and resonated deeply with all attendees.
Discussions, presentations, and exhibitor displays buzzed with energy as delegates exchanged ideas, forged connections, and celebrated the diverse voices shaping our educational landscape. This conference focused on sustainability, exploring the relationship between educators and children with nature, and making connections to creativity, participation, and citizenship. Key ideas included promoting sustainable practices, encouraging children to respect and understand the natural environment, and acknowledging our intrinsic connection to the natural world.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Reggio Children, EtonHouse International Education Group, all delegates, and exhibitors for making the 2016 REACH conference in Singapore a resounding success. May the echoes of these shared experiences continue to inspire and guide us in nurturing the potential of every child.
